Summer Entertaining in Your Home

By Louise Morrin

The weather's heating up, the Christmas sales have already begun and no doubt invitations are flowing in for summer parties.

If you find yourself hosting people at your property in St George over the coming months, you'll want to be prepared.

Start off by checking and cleaning your outdoor furniture. You may not have used it for a while so clear off the cobwebs, check for spiders and make sure the wood is sturdy and secure.

Now is the time to make sure your lawns are trimmed and garden is looking lush, so get the sprinkler going (as long as your water restrictions allow it) and plant some fresh bright flowers. If you've got a green thumb, consider planting basil, lettuce and tomatoes for harvest in the new year.

When guests arrive, be a responsible host and offer them plenty of sunscreen and water throughout the day. Consider investing in an outdoor umbrella or sunshade to ensure you have a cool shady spot to enjoy the silly season.

If you do lots of outdoor entertaining, make sure your barbecue has a full tank of gas and is fresh and clean for summer sausages and steaks.
