Launching on 23 March, the Sydney Rides Business Challenge aims to promote the benefits of people trading in their car keys for helmets and riding their bicycles to work. In fact, nearly 1,000 workers across 100 different businesses have already pledged their support of the four week event – and there's still plenty of time to consider getting amongst it!
If you're the owner of property in Carlton and have been trying to find a better, more convenient way to squeeze in some daily exercise, this program could give you the push you need to try something new and outside of your comfort zone. Or, if you already bike to work, you might want to encourage others that you work with to try the same!
Lord mayor Clover Moore said that with 100,000 new residents and 110,000 more jobs expected over the next two decades, it's going to be important that more people begin to take up alternative means of transport.
"There is no doubt that bikes are good for business. Road congestion already costs our economy more than $5 billion each year and this is expected to almost double to $8 billion by 2020," said Ms Moore in a 2 March statement.
This could be a wonderful time to adopt a healthier lifestyle while also helping reduce carbon emissions and road congestion.
