Dwelling approvals are being fast-tracked in New South Wales as demand grows for property, particularly in the bustling capital.
If you're looking to sell property in Carlton or the wider St George area, it's clear that now is the time, with demand for quality homes high.
An "increasing number of home builders are getting faster and cheaper approvals for new homes," according to a NSW government Planning & Infrastructure statement released on March 9.
The fast-track process is referred to as "complying development". This approach to dwelling approvals soared in 2012-2013, according to the state government.
While regular development applications take an average of 68 days to determine, complying developments took an average of just 17 days.
The fast-track system was used 12 per cent more over 2012-2013 compared to the previous year, indicating growing demand for quicker approvals given the pressure on housing stocks, particularly in Sydney.
"The NSW government expects to see further increases in fast track development approvals as a result of recent expansions of complying development to include straightforward renovations such as building a garage door or putting in a foot path," announced Minster for Planning & Infrastructure Brad Hazzard.
This could spell good news for owners of real estate in St George who want to retain their excellent location but need to make improvements to their homes that require building approvals.
