New South Wales' minister for planning Pru Goward announced a new plan for the future development of Sydney late last week, which could be of massive interest to current and/or future owners of property in Carlton.
Ms Goward said that matching the housing supply with the growing population was imperative for the future of Sydney, with a number of these proposed changes focusing on these aspects of the city.
Housing Industry Association executive director for New South Wales David Bare said hitting the housing supply targets needed would be a major effort, and the new government support would make it easier in the long term.
"The focus on urban renewal and infill in a planned fashion is long overdue in housing delivery in Sydney. Increasing the opportunities for housing type diversity and enabling subdivision of existing homes for higher density outcomes is also welcomed," said Mr Bare in a 14 December statement.
Some of these proposed ideas include speeding up the housing supply thorough the new UrbanGrowth NSW initiative, delivering new infrastructure in a timely manner and helping to improve the range of choice people have when selecting accommodation.
