As the nation's population continues to grow, one of the biggest issues facing the country is coping with the need for more accommodation. However, recent figures released by the Australian Bureau of Statistics outlined the strength of residential construction seen during 2014, which managed to climb into double figures over the year.
The commencement of new residential building projects over 2014 rose by 17.9 per cent over the year, reaching a huge 197,972 over the 12 month period. Property Council Residential executive director Nick Proud said these results would be fantastic for helping keep real estate across the country affordable for new buyers.
"We are seeing strong increases in the value of new residential construction work nationally, which combined with an increase in new commencements to record high levels just shy of the 200,000 mark for the year, is great news for homebuyers," said Mr Proud in a 15 April statement.
