Growing support for healthy living practices have led to a number of initiatives being undertaken by the New South Wales government. And most recently, funding has been announced for the development of parks across the state.
Rockdale was one of the council areas that will receive a share of $3million from the Department of Planning and Environment as part of Sydney's Green Grid program. This will be put towards creating a series of connected parks and open spaces that residents and visitors alike will be able to use.
A spokesperson for the Department of Planning and Environment said creating these spaces aimed to encourage people to embrace a more active, healthy lifestyle.
"Sydney and the Central Coast are renowned for natural beauty and these funds can only improve local open spaces by adding bike and walking paths, cycleways, picnic spots and play spaces to be enjoyed by the public," said the spokesperson in a 9 April statement.
This could be great news for residents of property in Carlton, offering more opportunities to get out and about in the local community and to reach any fitness and health goals!
