The annual award for commitment to renewable energy from not-for-profit company EUROSOLAR has been awarded to Sydney for the city's Renewable Energy Master Plan, which could offer some incentive for sustainable buyers interested in buying property in Carlton.
Lord mayor Clover Moore said the award was encouraging for the development of the plan, with international recognition offering some insight into the growth of the cleaner, greener mindsets across the globe.
"Burning fossil fuels for energy is a huge contributor to climate change and almost 80 per cent of electricity used in Sydney comes from coal-fired power plants," said Mayor Moore in 28 November statement.
"The City is Australia's first carbon-neutral government with ambitious targets to reduce emissions by 70 per cent by 2030. We are delighted that our renewable energy master plan has received this prestigious recognition on a global scale."
These ambitious goals are well within reach of the New South Wales capital city, making now a wonderful time to consider moving into the region.
